I first made Pinot Meunier in 2015 and I cannot imagine a vintage without it as it is consistently the most graceful and pretty wine I make. Along with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, pinot Meunier is one of the holy trinity of grapes in Champagne and I believe its most exciting, albiet its least known. It is a very close cousin to pinot Noir, but in my opinion its more sophisticated family member. It is more lithe and energetic compared to the mysteriousness of Pinot Noir.

THe growing season for 2019 was more or less flawless. We had a calm bloom, a healthy fruit set, and a long mild summer. Then, as is often the way in Oregon, the rains came early. Then came some heat, then some more rain, and repeat. It proved to be a difficult process to choose a good day to pick the fruit. The Challenges of the late season were easily overcome by the intimate farming of the fix family at Rainsong Vineyard and on September 28th Mike - who planted and farms the vineyard - delivered beautiful, pristine fruit. The wine is silky and elegant with a round center and bright finish.
